How to access the COVID-19 support grant for NSW small businesses

Written by Energy Action

The NSW Government has launched a financial support package for small businesses highly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic following the NSW Public Health Order of 31 March 2020.

Eligible small businesses and not-for-profit organisations that have experienced a significant decline in revenue can access a $10,000 grant with applications open to 1 June 2020. The grant can be used to pay for unavoidable business costs including energy bills, rent, and other expenses that are not supported by other forms of government funding.

To be eligible, NSW based small businesses need to meet the following criteria:

  • Have an ABN with at 1 March 2020, annual turnover of more than $75,000 and employ between one and 19 people.
  • Have total Australian wages below $900,000.
  • Are highly impacted by government restrictions leading to at least a 75% decline in turnover compared to the same period in 2019 (over at least two weeks).

Online applications can be submitted here and further information relating to the grants program, eligibility and how funding may be used, can be found here.
