Business Contract Rates
The Energy Action Price Index (EAPI) tracks electricity prices for business customers in the National Electricity Market (NEM) and South West Interconnected System of Western Australia (SWIS). EAPI data is sourced from Energy Action's reverse auction platform. The EAPI data is based on commodity electricity prices in Standard Retail Contracts. Business Contract Rates (BCR) are derived from the most recent EAPI price to date. The BCR percentage change/difference is calculated as a comparison to the EAPI price from the previous week.
Retailer Default Rates
Retailer Default Rates are calculated as an average of both the peak and off-peak default rates provided by the big four retailers (Origin Energy, Shell Energy, AGL and Energy Australia). All default rates data is updated on a fortnightly basis and is directly sourced from the retailer's website, which can be found in the links above.

A commodity market created exclusively for the supply and exchange of energy. It is divided into the National Energy Market (NEM), which encompasses the East Coast and Southern states, and the South West Interconnected System in Western Australia (SWIS).
