Case study

Wohlers Enterprises

Energy Action secured competitive offers for the five C&I sites. Against benchmarked costs, the winning offer delivered an indicative $46,000 in savings.

The client

Wohlers Enterprises is a South Australian retail and homewares business operating five retail and distribution sites. Other sites in the broader portfolio are investment properties. Contracts sat across SME and C&I categories, making procurement harder to manage and less cost-effective.

The Problem

Energy Action reviewed the portfolio and found mismatched contract terms across SME and C&I sites

Three SME sites were upgraded to C&I classification and bundled with existing C&I sites into one market event

All five C&I contracts were aligned to a single end date in 2029.

“Aligning the portfolio gave James and the team better control over timing, cost, and simplicity,”
Olivia Slater, Account Manager at Energy Action.

The Solution

Using reverse auction procurement, Energy Action secured competitive offers for the five C&I sites. Against benchmarked costs, the winning offer delivered an indicative $46,000 in savings. The result was a three-year contract across all upgraded sites with rates materially below market average. Other SME sites received improved pricing outcomes, helping contain costs across the rest of the portfolio.

Wohlers now benefits from:
• Consolidated C&I contracts across five key sites

• Simpler admin and fewer supplier touchpoints
• A foundation to add solar and battery later
