Case study

Vinery Stud

Energy Action reclassified the outlier through a reverse auction and ran a disciplined RFP across the rest. The outcome was verified annual savings of $50,000 across 17 accounts with no operational change.

The client

Vinery Stud is a leading Australian thoroughbred breeding business with multiple metering points and varied energy needs from stables to irrigation. The portfolio included 17 small market electricity accounts with mixed consumption levels. Energy Action compared available retailers and terms to provide clear recommendations.

The Problem

One metering point carried heavy usage but sat in a small market bundle.

We reviewed usage and tariffs then prepared a reverse auction to deliver genuine price tension.

Reclassification to large market enabled clear comparison and reduced non energy components.

Energy costs were creeping up across many accounts. One high use meter was in the wrong class.

The Solution

With the heavyweight meter resolved we turned to the remaining small market accounts. A structured RFP invited comparable bids, we mapped usage by account and benchmarked retailer offers for a true apples vs apples overview. Normalised comparisons identified a portfolio award that delivered annual savings of nearly $40,000. Results were validated against prior charges and the executed offer schedules.
