Beck's Bakehouse

Energy Action ran a competitive reverse auction for Beck’s Bakehouse. The result was a 3-year contract that beat the benchmark rate by 40% and locked in savings of $44,000 compared to the incumbent retailer. The bakery’s new rates average 12.04 c/kWh across the period.

The client

Beck’s Bakehouse is a family-owned, high-volume bakery and café located in Port Noarlunga, South Australia. With over 50 staff and a seven-day trading schedule, it is a favourite among locals and tourists for its pies, pastries, vegan options, and fresh sourdough.

The Problem

Electricity is one of the biggest costs in food production.

At Beck’s Bakehouse, energy powers ovens, fridges, freezers, and front-of-house equipment from 6 am every day.

Like many food service businesses, Beck’s faced rising electricity rates at contract rollover.

“Working with Beck’s Bakehouse was a pleasure. The team was responsive and engaged from the start. We’re thrilled we could deliver such a strong outcome for them.”
