Ivan has extensive experience in the energy sector, with over 22 years in a variety of senior management and executive roles at AGL Energy and ActewAGL. During this time, ActewAGL cemented its place as the pre‐eminent energy retailer in the ACT and the Capital Region, with outstanding customer retention and bundling of innovative services with TransACT. 

Ivan also served as the CEO and later Chairman of TransACT Communications and grew this business dramatically. He was instrumental in the sale of TransACT to iiNet and was subsequently a member of the iiNet executive team. 

Ivan’s most recent role was as Managing Director of TRIDENT Corporate Services, which specialises in providing consulting services to enable businesses and governments to achieve their strategic goals and objectives. The company has over 100 clients from Federal Government, State Government and small to medium businesses.

- Conceived and developed the world's first energy and telecommunications bundle for customers.
- Substantial success in turning around under performing businesses
- Charity champion; highest individual fundraiser worldwide for Movember, over $1m raised for Camp Quality and over $2m raised for Ronald McDonald House Canberra.

Michael Fahey

Michael Fahey - Chief Operating Officer & Chief Financial Officer

Michael joined Energy Action in January 2015  from his most recent role as Head
of Group Finance at AGL, one of Australia’s leading integrated energy
utility companies.

Michael brings with him over 6 years of energy market finance
management experience having served in several finance roles at AGL since
2008 including Head of Finance Merchant Energy & Retail Energy, and over 25 years’ finance experience, which includes head of finance and chief financial officer roles at Novartis both locally and offshore in Switzerland, Singapore and the UK, and in the Audit Division in KPMG.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Economics, Accounting Major and a Graduate Diploma in Superannuation Management from Macquarie University. He is also a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD).

Caoimhin Ardren Caoimhin Arden- Projects & Advisory Services Director

Caoimhin has over 25 years in the built environment sector, covering project, asset, commissioning and energy management. He is the author and assessor of the Energy Efficiency Council (EEC) Retrofit Project Manager accreditation scheme and recognised as an expert in project & commissioning management of energy retrofit projects in commercial buildings. He is also an internal operations specialist including the integration of processes into building management.

Dr Paul Bannister - Projects & Advisory Services (incorporating Exergy) Director

Paul BannisterPaul is one of the world's leading authorities in energy efficiency. Previously the Managing Director of leading specialist energy efficiency consultancy Exergy Australia, (acquired by Energy Action in 2014), Paul is now responsible for Energy Action's Projects & Advisory Services division.

Paul has played a central role in the development of major energy efficiency innovations, such as the Australian Building Greenhouse Rating Scheme (now renamed NABERS Energy). He is a founding member of the ABGR (now NABERS) Independent Energy Efficiency Design Review Panel and an author to over 80 publications in the field of energy use.

Paul holds a Bachelor of Science (1st Hons, Maths & Physics), a PhD (Engineering Physics) and is a member of the Institute of Professional Engineers of New Zealand, the Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating, and is currently the President of the Institute  of Building Performance Simulation Association Australasia.

David Rylah - Trading & Pricing Director
David Rylah Director Wholesale Markets

David was a Shareholder and Executive Director of EnergyAdvice Pty Ltd, a leading energy consultancy for larger industrial and commercial energy users, prior to acquisition by Energy Action in August 2014 and currently holds the position of Trading and Pricing Director.

He has over 25 years’ experience in energy and financial markets, in both the UK and Australia, and was involved in the market design of the NEM at its inception, with particular focus on the price risk management framework that underpins the market.

In 1997, David was elected as the inaugural Chair of the AFMA Electricity Committee that oversaw the framework and documentation for hedging products and market design that remains in place today. In addition he was Chair of the AFMA Dealer Accreditation Board and the electricity industry representative on the AFMA Executive.

David has been engaged to provide strategic advice on multiple aspects of the Australian energy market, including; the Malaysian energy provider, Tenaga Nasional Berhard, on electricity price risk management, a Federal Senator on the Renewable Energy price outcomes and a number of Emissions Intensive & Trade Exposed (EITE) entities operating facilities in Australia. He is also a member of the
Group Risk Committee and co-ordinates AFSL compliance.

David holds a Master of Applied Finance, a 
Bachelor of Commerce as well as a Certificate in Marketing and Management.
